Mayor Making 1.JPG

THANKS SUE!

In May 2024, our long-time supporter and volunteer, Sue Sharps, ended her one-year term as Brackley Town Mayor. This post is to express our heartfelt thanks and admiration for Sue's incredible energy and commitment over the whole of this year. Both in the way she undertook the role of mayor, and in her unwavering support for her two chosen charities; South Northants Youth Engagement & Brackley Foodbank.  During this time Sue raised well over £10,000 for these two, very worthwhile causes.

At the “Mayor Making” ceremony on Saturday 11th May, we were delighted (and slightly stunned) to receive the award of £5,650 to Brackley Foodbank,  This is a truly amazing amount and will make a massive contribution towards covering our fixed costs (rental, insurance, communications etc...) for the current year.

Although Sue was not always a “stickler for tradition” in her approach to the mayoral role (the red Dr Marten’s rather gave that away!), she accepted and executed an exhausting schedule which saw her at every event, opening ceremony, coffee morning, bring-and-buy, charity function etc…,  without mentioning that every time you drove through town she seemed to be rushing across the square on her way to something!

Like Old Blue Eyes himself, she has earned the right, hand on heart, to sing along with “…I did it my…… way”!

And with such an amazing result, thank goodness she did.
